Singing her first gig at a local radio station in Kansas at age
9, Faith went on to enjoy an active career in singing even
while pursuing a career in banking and raising a family.
She sang professionally with leading jazz groups
in St. Louis, San Francisco and San Diego and has recently come
out of retirement to pursue a new interest in the musical stage. Currently
she performs with a local women's barbershop quartet and has
graced S.T.A.R. San Diego's stage in recent musical theatre productions.

Carlyn Ames
Carlyn has had an extensive career in theatre performing in everything
from musicals to serious dramas, from Sondheim to Shakespeare. Since
coming to San Diego, she has produced, directed, and performed in
over a dozen productions, both here and on the national stage. Her
current theatre company, for actors over 50, is S.T.A.R., San Diego
(Senior Theatre Actors Repertory) company. Formerly known as CAST,
San Diego, this new company produces plays, musical revues, and
variety shows and participates in bi-annual national STUSA (Senior
Theatre USA) Festivals. She also conducts singing and acting workshops
in the summers, through SDCCD Cont. Education.

Sallye Graves
Since I have lived in S.D. I was a member of the S.D. Opera Chorus
but also had leading roles in two Street Operas for them for two
years.
I sang at Marios, an opera restaurant for 12 years. Before S.D I
starred in Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Desert Song, My Fair Lady,
and Madame Butterfly for the Cabrillo Music Theatre and Ventura
Symphony. Studied in New York and Los Angeles.
Jack Sigler
Jack started dancing as a young boy in Detroit. When
WWII broke out, erroneously he was drafted . . . onto the stage.
His first audition landed him with the USO. After the war, Jack
danced at The Hollywood Burlesque in San Diego for two years, performing
with such stars as Hillary Dawn, Lily St. Cyr and Gypsy Rose Lee.
He served as Master of Ceremonies throughout San Diego and Los Angeles,
hosting talent shows and dance contests. Jack was inducted into
the California and the United States Swing Dance Halls of Fame.
He served 5 presidential terms with the San Diego Swing Dance Club.
Nowadays, Jack Sigler is an active member of STAR San Diego, and
still competes in dance contests all around Southern California.
Marie Boswell
Marie has been in several STAR San Diego productions in both musical
and non-singing roles. She appeared in last year's Broadway Cabaret,
both here and in St. Louis, MO. She played the role of Columbus's
ship, the Santa Maria, in the original one-act comedy, Chris Takes
a Cruise as well as Prunella Print in the original comedy, La Dolce
Vita Resort. Her latest turn was singing in our summer workshop,
Varieties.
Karen Fox
Being in the spot light is nothing new to Karen Fox. She has been
singing since high school and has performed in quartets and trios
for S.T.A.R. San Diego.
She has made appearances in television commercials, worked as an
extra on several film/TV projects, and has been a model in fashion
shows and print ads. Truly a woman completely absorbed in the theatre,
she also has experience running the FollowSpot (FS)!
Neal Sullivan
Neal has appeared in three shows with S.T.A.R., including the one
in Baltimore. In between, before and after, Neal has done a lot
of community theatre, and is at present in rehearsal playing the
judge in "To Kill a Mockinbird" at OnStage in Chula Vista,
which opens the first week of June, 2010. This is his 8th play at
OnStage. In between all this, he's something of a karaoke nut and
can be found hanging out at different, probably less-than-suitable
bars, but you go where the music is....or at least he does.
Leslie Johnson-Leech
A New York City native, she has always loved musical theater. In
San Diego, she has taught classes to older adults and produced,
directed, and choreographed a grassroots senior theater group, The
Forever In Their Prime Time Players. She has appeared in musical
productions with STAR, Vanguard Prods.,and San Diego City College.
She was a founding member of The Triple Tones, a cabaret performance
group, and a finalist in the Catch A Rising Star competition with
performance partner, Ed Walker.
Lisa Hohman
Lisa enjoyed music from her early years in Hawaii, singing in schools
and church choirs as well as playing the piano, organ and ukulele.
She pursued a nursing career in San Diego which kept her quite busy,
all the while keeping up her musical interests by singing in local
music groups. After retirement she became more active in the music
field and is now co-director of a local women’s barbershop
chorus, including singing in quartets and trios. She also formed
a volunteer combo band doing gigs 2 or 3 times a month. She has
also enjoyed singing with Star San Diego for about 2 years.
Karen Menin
A theater arts major in college 40+ years ago, Karen joined STAR
in 2006, appearing in Broadway Cabaret, Varieties and Swell Party.
She has also appeared in North Park Vaudeville Shows, the San Diego
City College production of Swing and several Senior Follies shows
with CCT. She won first place at the 2008 Senior Talent show in
Balboa Park and participated in several Ms. Senior San Diego Pageants.
She is looking forward to continuing with the Sizzling Seniors,
STAR San Diego and all other opportunities that come along in the
future.
Jocelyn Wight
Jocelyn is a graphic artist and jewelry designer. She performs
frequently in retirement residences and has been in a number of
STAR productions, including one-act comedies. She won first place
in a Catch a Rising Star competition, has sung in the Balboa Talent
shows at the Del Mar Fair and was featured in a SENIOR FOLLIES production
for CCT. She continues to perform with STAR and other shows about
town.
Peggy Padilla
Peggy, MS. Senior California, 2009, came into the world dancing
and hasn't stopped. Her teaching, choreographing and performing
all styles of dance has won her numerous prestigious awards. With
her Master's from UCLA in movement therapy, Peggy has worked professionally
assisting seniors back to health, and she still volunteers in benefits
and fund raisers for seniors all over California. She has been married
52 years to her ballroom teacher and, when not dancing, she relaxes
by race walking or boogie boarding...at age 79!!!
Dione Conway
Dione had a dream of singing on stage. Fate brought her to Carlyn
Ames's "Sing Your Heart Out" workshop. It was a life changing
experience. Soon afterward, Dione was singing on stage in STAR's
Christmas & Varieties productions. She has also performed in
Gypsy & Ain't Misbehavin' at SD City College. She has taken
voice classes with Eunice Williams & at Mesa College and has
been a featured soloist with the Cedar Center, Pacificaires &
The Melodiers choruses. She's having a blast singing & dancing
in the 2010 Senior Follies.
Ed Walker
Ed is a former corporate salesman and equestrian. His talents are
many - organist, artist, actor and singer. He has appeared as MC
and performer in several Balboa Park Talent Shows and a number of
STAR musical productions - Broadway Cabaret, Spring Showcase and,
most recently, Holiday Varieties - as well as STAR comedy skits
and one act plays.
He describes himself as a "traveling salesman who does show
biz just for fun." We certainly have fun when he performs with
us.
Memory Lane Dancers

The Memory Lane Dancers have
been entertaining at Senior Clubs, Retirement Homes and Convalescent
Homes since 1983. Their zest for living is displayed in their
performances of Tap, Jazz, Ballroom, Musical Comedy and Polynesian
shows.
They have also performed at the Balboa Park Senior Talent Show,
Del Mar County Fair and traveled to St. Louis to perform with
Star San Diego at the Senior Theater Festival.
