S.T.A.R. San Diego Welcomes You!

Take a group of former actors, singers and dancers, and few neophytes, too; put them all together with an original script, music you know and love, fun choreography, colorful costumes and sets, and, voila! You have a S.T.A.R. San Diego Production. Each show invites you to enjoy the sights and sounds of American theatre.

who graphicWho?

Our company is composed of active older adults (emphasis on “active”) from 55 to 83yrs of age. S.T.A.R. San Diego, formerly The Golden Hill Players, have been together for almost five years. We are always looking for talented, energetic seniors who would like to give show biz a(nother) go! Like the Palm Springs Follies, we take on all kinds of roles with energy and enthusiasm, having the time of our lives and our audiences do too.

why graphicWhy?

Our goal is to provide an avenue for older adults to feel needed and appreciated while discovering and developing natural talents and creativity. We want to replace the negative stereotypes of “senior citizens” and dwell on our abilities, not, as so often is the case, on our disabilities. Life doesn’t stop at 60! A whole new phase is just beginning!

Blood, sweat, tears, time, energy, and solid, hard work. Commitment is everything! The results are worth it...for the performers and our audiences! Just read some of the many comments we receive:

We offer public performances as well as entertainment for private functions. We have taken our shows “on the road” to local venues and senior groups have come to us at the various theatres in which we perform. Now that we are becoming a non-profit group, we will be spending time and energy applying for grants and funding from community sources. We hope to have our own venue some day soon. We also do Private and corporate functions, holiday parties and entertainment on site.

We invite other groups across the nation to get in touch, share ideas, ask questions. This is such a worthwhile endeavor! We all can use each other’s support. Hope to hear from you! See you at the Festival!
